Service Details

Eileen Marie (Rosetta) Anderson, 88, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. She was beloved by family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Eileen was born in Madrid, IA, on January 5, 1937, to John and Lucille Rosetta. She graduated from Assumption Catholic School in Granger, IA, and later met her lifetime companion, Carroll Anderson, at a dance in Granger. They married on June 30, 1962, and built their first home in Saylorville, IA. Eileen worked at Bankers Life before becoming a homemaker and mother to her two sons, Jack and Jason, and was an invaluable secretary for her husband’s commercial real estate and tax service businesses. Eileen was an excellent cook and rarely followed a recipe by the letter. She enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for her family, as well as her daily 4 p.m. glass of wine, and cherished her time with her friends at their winter home in Fountain Hills, AZ. Throughout the numerous medical complications she experienced over the past two years, she remained a strong presence for her family by always putting their needs first despite her struggles.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Carroll; their two sons, Jack (Theresa Becker) and Jason (who affectionally referred to her as the “honey badger”); niece, Mary (Fred) McKibbin; nephew, Lanny Battani; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and her special granddog, Max.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Esther, Lenora and Geneva; and nephews, Edward, Robert, David and Ronald.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. A funeral service on Wednesday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 517 SW Des Moines Street in Ankeny, IA followed by a luncheon with burial at Beaver Cemetery in Granger, IA.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
