A celebration of life service will be held mid-summer 2026.
Doris was born on December 26, 1924, at home in Rockwell City, Iowa, to Ernest and Genevieve Johnson.
She graduated from Lake City High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Carl A. Johnson.
Doris and Carl were owners of the Brower Hotel in Rockwell City for 15 years.
Upon Carl’s passing, she married Floyd J. Anderson of Manson, Iowa, and eventually moved to Ankeny, where they owned and operated the Municipal Supply business for 6 years.
After they sold the business, Doris was employed by the City of Johnston in the water department for 10 years before her retirement in 1985.
Doris was a member of the Altoona Christian Church, the Order of Easter Star, and a contributing member of the Ankeny Community Theatre.
She enjoyed going to auctions, fishing, making and sharing baked goods with family and friends - especially her coffee cakes and sugar cookies.
Throughout her life, she looked after and cared for others; even upon her death, she continues to help others by the donation of her body.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Carl A. Johnson, her infant son, Raymond Carl, and her husband Floyd J. Anderson.
Surviving are one sister, Joan (LeRoy-deceased) Rotert, Joan’s three boys, Larry (Peggy Shaw) Rotert, Kelly (Pam Ford) Rotert, and Jeff (Rhonda McClelland) Rotert, along with many nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
