Dennis "Chief" Brummett

Dennis "Chief" Richard Brummett, 79, passed away October 30, 2023 at Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born September 10, 1944 to his parents, Richard and Gertrude (Dale) Brummett. Dennis attended Saydel High School and has lived in the Des Moines area his entire life. He worked at Massey Ferguson, Titan Tire, and City of Clive among other places and was known for being an accurate and dependable employee. His hobbies included reading, weightlifting, and classic cars. His pride and joy was his 1955 Chevy Bel Air. Dennis was a very simple and caring man. His children were his number one priority and he shared a special bond with his son Shawn. Dennis had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed.
Dennis is survived by his children, Angela (Brian) Cartier and Shawn Brummett; grandchildren, Aaron Depew, Sydney (Trevor) McFarland; great grandchildren, Jeremy and Blythe Depew; siblings, Carol (Tom) Lundberg, Jerry Brummett, and Tammy (Roger) Amadon; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family member.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Terry Brummett.
Services will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue Des Moines, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with memorial service to begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, One Northeast 60th Avenue Des Moines, Iowa.

Dennis Chief, was one of the best guys I ever knew, we were friends for over 50 years I always enjoyed his smile and his laughter. I will miss our visit when I come back to Iowa thanks for all the memories.Love Candace😥❤

Dennis and I were neighbors and classmates. We started school together at Canary Lake Elementary, then on to Woodside Junior High and finally graduation at Saydel. He was always a nice person and he will be missed by all who knew him. God bless his soul.
