He was a quality control supervisor for 26 years with the Celotex Corporation, later working at National Gypsum and then finally retiring from United States Gypsum in 2003.
Dean was a member of Valley Church in West Des Moines, IA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening. Dean rarely missed the opportunity to participate in the Iowa deer and pheasant seasons or take his boat on a good lake with the hope of landing a walleye or two. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. More than anything, Dean loved spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his 5 grandsons.

My sincere and deepest condolences to Deans family and friends…. I was always so grateful to the friendship he found with his neighbor, my mother Esther.
One day early in their friendship, I drove them to a holiday dinner at the Prairie meadows AJ’s restaurant taking the back or slower road to and from… well that was the beginning of mom and Deans Tuesday outing on senior citizens day where they liked to have lunch, dance a little but mostly found and socialized with new friends.
I miss waving to Dean at his window from across the street at mom’s every time I drive up….
His conversations and presence will be missed…
R.I.P. Dean 🙏
