Dean Doyle

Dean Adrian Doyle, 89, passed away January 17, 2025.
He was born December 14, 1935 in Alta Vista, Iowa to his parents, Adrian “AJ” and Edna (Still) Doyle. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1973 was a Korean and Vietnam veteran. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he worked at the United States Post Office. After retiring from the post office Dean enjoyed staying busy by working at the Blank Park Zoo driving the train during the summer and the downtown Des Moines Public Library during the winter.
Dean was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the local American Legion. He was an avid western reader and loved John Wayne. Dean also enjoyed fishing and vegetable gardening. He was proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed genealogy. Dean was also a big Notre Dame fan.
He is survived by his children, Daniel (Rhonda) Doyle, Dena (Dan) Randles, and Michael Doyle; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Baker) Doyle; son, Sean Doyle; grandson, Dr. Bradley Randles; parents, Adrian “AJ” and Edna Doyle; and brothers, Alan Doyle and Jack Doyle.
Family will greet friends Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial service to take place the following day, Monday January 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
