Dawn Karamanch Maynard, 90, passed away December 15, 2024 at Medical City McKinney in McKinney, Texas.
Dawn was born September 29, 1934 in Pikeville, Kentucky to William Willis and Lola Maxine “Maxie” (Varney) Fannin. She moved to the Des Moines area around 1954, where she spent much of her life surrounded by family and friends.
A devoted member of the Ft. Des Moines Church of the Open Bible, Dawn’s faith was central to her life. She was an active member of the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and singing in the choir. Dawn’s dedication to her faith was unwavering, and she always kept a Bible close by her side.
Dawn was also known for her love of cooking, especially preparing delicious southern meals. She was a proud “Fur baby mom”, and enjoyed keeping the house clean. Above all, Dawn loved her family deeply, and her kindness, compassion, and warm spirit touched all who knew her.
Dawn is survived by daughter, Linda (Gary) Westemeyer; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph “Wade” Maynard; her parents; sisters, Vivian “Alice” Nuzum, Lola Maxine Miller, and Jacqueline Jeffers.

This obituary is inaccurate. My great grandma, who was also my namesake, had 6 great grands. Also had 3 double great grands !

Linda. Your mother was the sweetest lady. I always enjoyed visting with her at church. I remember when your parents lived adjacent to mine. She had a wonferful smile and a contagious laugh.. She and my mother
are friends again in heaven. ❤
