David Laugerman
March 08, 1950 — July 21, 2024
Dave Laugerman, 74, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Dave went to his eternal home to dwell with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 37 years, Marcia; his two sons, James and Steven, James’ wife, Deanna and their four children: Maely (11), Joelyn (9), Nigel (6), and Zoey (3). He is also survived by his triplet brother, Duane (Jolene); his sister, Connie (Wayne) Wahlert; his brother-in-law, Bill (Donna) Rector; sister-in-law, Tracy (Tom) Vanderlinden; father-in-law, Ben (Jackie) Rector; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lillian; his brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Rose; and his mother-in-law, Doris Rector.
Dave was born a triplet to Harold and Lillian Laugerman in Webster City, Iowa on March 8, 1950. He graduated from Webster City High School with the Class of 1968. His father, a World War II veteran, was a recipient of the Purple Heart, instilling in Dave a deep respect for service, hard work, and dedication.
As a talented licensed professional architect, Dave founded his own firm, designing several churches, school buildings, and homes, including his own. He received his undergraduate and Master’s in Architecture at Iowa State University. Dave spent his life in Iowa, though he cherished winters in Palm Springs, California.
His passions included fishing, cars, watching football, starting (and sometimes finishing) home projects, and worshipping with his church family at Soteria where he was an active member. Dave was a humble, peaceful, and gentle man whose warmth, generosity, and kindness will be deeply missed.
A service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Soteria Church to celebrate Dave’s life and to honor the legacy of love and community he leaves behind. A visitation will begin at 10:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Soteria Church Building Fund or Samaritan's Purse.

Duane, VERY sorry for your loss. I remember David at BSF MANY years ago. Did he ever stop smiling? (you too?) He was always soooo encouraging in our conversations back then. I can see he's lived a VERY fruitful / God blessed life. Many blessings to you, Jolene, Andrew, and your whole family. Today WILL be a true celebration of his life.

David was a prince of a man. He was given to pursuing an excellent spirit in everything he did. From leading a small group at church, doing graphics at a collegiate newspaper, to building houses, or floats for the VEISHA parade. Jane and I were fortunate to have him in our lives, gracing us with his fun filled laughs and his humility in serving others. Bless you, Dave! Thank you, God!
