Damaris "Marcie" Johnson

Damaris “Marcie” Joyce Johnson passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024. Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Family will greet friends following the service.

Marcie was born July 8, 1934 to Irene (Bendel) and Martin Moulis in LaCrosse, WI where she was raised and resided until she married her “soulmate of 60 years” Richard “Dick” Johnson. The couple lived in La Crosse and moved to various locations including Norfolk, NE, St. Paul, MN, Overland Park, KS, Blue Springs, MO, and more recently, Grimes, IA to be closer to their daughter and family. Marcie was the bookkeeper at King Louie West Lanes for years, while Dick served as Vice President of King Louie Bowling Corp. In 1985, they purchased Blue Springs Bowl in Blue Springs, MO and operated it together for 15 years. After retiring, the couple traveled to Pharr, TX, in the winters. Marcie enjoyed golf, bowling and making personalized greeting cards. Marcie also loved spending time with family and their regular outings to Mandarin Grill and Chicken Coop.

Marcie is survived by her daughter, Sheri (Randy) Thompson; grandsons, Brandon (Whitney) Thompson and Jordan (Morgan) Thompson; and great-grandson, Kyden Thompson.

Marcie was preceded by in death by her parents; her husband, Dick, her sister, Gloria; and nephew, Kevin Zoerb.
