The family will greet visitors from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. before the funeral. A private graveside service will be held later at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, Iowa.

Diana was born on January 14, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dewey Clark Wymer, Jr. and Darlene Alberta Smith. She married Chris Gary Widmer on July 30, 1965, at Sunshine Open Bible Church in Des Moines. Diana grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1965. She was also a graduate of Kingsway Bible College. She and Chris made their home and raised their family in Bondurant.

Diana made Jesus the Lord of her life as a very young child. She loved and served Him wholly by serving others. She served within the church in multiple roles, including music ministry, teaching, and Sunday School Superintendent. She also served Him by fostering over two dozen children, including many Vietnamese refugee children; by building a church for the SE Asian refugees at First Assembly of God; by gathering food, clothing, and other needed items for the refugee families; by being a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for abused and neglected children; by donating hundreds of Christian books to county jails all over Iowa; and a multitude of other ways. She was a mighty prayer warrior and loved supporting missionaries who carried the gospel worldwide. Diana was a loyal and faithful friend. When her physical limitations made many things difficult, her prayer life deepened. Many benefited from her deep prayer life, even when they didn’t know she was praying for them. You may be one of them! When she danced into heaven, we believe a crowd was there to meet her and Jesus said to her, “Well done, good and faithful servant”!

Next to her passion for Jesus, her family was her greatest love. She treasured every moment she could spend with them. Those family members who will always hold dear the wonderful memories of her include her children, Heidi (Bob) Lawson, Janilla (Bud) Booth, Justin (Megan) Widmer, and Aaron (Beth) Widmer; foster sons, Thoi (Le) Nguyen and Miles Kellogg; grandchildren: Anthony (Kelly) Peavy, Maia (Nathan) Butler, Kaili Lawson, Lydia, Adalyn, Gwenyth and Lillian Widmer, Dustin (Audrey) Booth, Travis (Brenna) Booth, Tommy, and Amy Nguyen; great-grandchildren Natalie Peavy, Phillip, Parker, Preston, and Kynlee Booth; sister, Virgie Killen, and brother, Sam Wymer, and brother-in-law, Les Conklin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Twyla Conklin, and her great-grandson Aden Kimmel-Booth.

Instead of flowers, your love and memorial contributions may be directed to Diana’s family or to New Hope Assembly of God for World Missions.
