Dollie Alberta Watters, age 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Dollie was born March 26, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa to Everett and Dollie Northway. She worked as a Nurses’ Assistant at Valley View Village prior to her retirement. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, and flowers. Dollie’s family was her first priority and she was the dedicated caretaker for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Raymond (Dixie) Watters, LaRetta (Bill) Jahnke, Verna (Jay) Mathews, and Jobie Boals-Watters; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends.

Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Watters; her daughters, Melissa Watters and Nellie Boals; eight siblings; and her granddaughter, Melissa Jahnke-Smith.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A graveside service will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
