David William Tidball
June 21, 1946 — November 03, 2024
David William Tidball, age 78, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Dave was born June 21, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa to Samuel and Norma (Carico) Tidball.
He was a proud decorated veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War from August of 1963 until August of 1969, earning many service medals. He retired as a mechanic from the United States Postal Service working on the processing machines.
He played fast-pitch softball for 20 years as a pitcher. He bowled and golfed, and had three hole-in-ones in one year. Dave was an avid hunter and loved hunting deer and squirrels. He also fished and especially loved walleyes.
Dave remodeled his own home and others. He was always a perfectionist. If he wasn’t happy with the results, Dave would redo the whole thing. Dave was a family man that liked traveling around with the children and grandchildren. Dave was a quiet man that would listen to the conversation without any input, but when he spoke, people listened. He had compassion and never turned his back on anyone that needed help.
He is survived by his wife, Sandee Tidball; children, Derek (Yasmin) and Che’rie; granddaughters, Alexis (Devon), Carmella, and Nayeli; sisters, Pam (Dan) and Chris (Russell); brothers, Duke and Mike (Deb); and many nieces, nephew, other extended family and many friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Norma Tidball.
Services will be held at Pleasant Hill Free Church, 4555 Parkridge Ave, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately after the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of David.

Aunt Sandee,
I am so sorry that Uncle Dave passed away - He was such a great man of intelligence, moral excellence, and wisdom. He will be so terribly missed by all, but we are happy that he is no longer suffering and that you had the privilege of being his wife for so many years that deep down you both are never separated 💖 I’m sure he has made God proud and that you will see him again one day!
