Dawn M. Sinnott
October 15, 1967 — July 24, 2024
Dawn Michelle (Sanders) Sinnott, age 56, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer that she kept as private as possible.
Dawn was born October 15, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald and Patricia (Slagle) Sanders. She was a trusted and talented cosmetologist who cherished her coworkers, and enjoyed making connections with her network of loyal clients. She married her love, Shannon Sinnott, and they shared a total of 35 years together, 28 years as husband and wife. They were proud parents of Nolan and Ryley. Dawn was never a sports fan until her children became athletes, then you would not find a more die-hard football or softball fan. She never missed a single sporting event of theirs, as well as everything else in their lives. She was a great support. Dawn was a mother to all - her kid’s friends and her daughter’s students, as well as her beloved pets. Her family was everything to her and she loved simply going on walks with the kids or spending time with them. Family loved to spoil Dawn, and she would spoil them right back.
She loved family life, caring for her many beloved pets, cooking and baking, getting many of her recipe ideas from a variety of Food Network shows. She did have a slight shopping addiction and it was a regular occurrence to have random Amazon packages show up, but they were rarely for herself; she was a great gift-giver. Above all, she loved her family and the simple pleasures in life like watching a sunset.
She is survived by her loving husband, Shannon; children, Nolan and Ryley; sister, Diana (Todd) Norman; nieces and nephews, Tanner (Jenna) Norman, Courtney (Cody) Jorgensen, Sam (Sofia) Kornstad, and Abby Kornstad; great-nephew, Tyce Norman; and her favorite four-legged furry friend, Jeter.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Pat Sanders.
A celebration of life will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024. There will be a luncheon immediately after at Assembly Hall, 1250 NE 56th Street, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327.

I’m so saddened to hear the news. I worked with Dawn at SJCS. She was one of the kids favorite people to see! She always had a smile on her face and was always welcoming. She talked about her kids all the time and there’s no doubt how much she loved her family. She truly made a difference❤️
Praying for Dawn’s family. 🤍
May God hold her in the palm of His hand🍀

WE were so saddened to learn of Dawn's passing. Sue and I were both clients of Dawn. She was always so cheerful and smiling. She was so proud of her children and always brought us up to date on family activities, Riley teaching and Nolan playing football. She will be missed by so many. We hope many fond memories will bring you peace and lessen the loss.
Blessing to you all.

Dawn was a good human being full of joy and compassion. I remember being young together and running around as teens. A light has left this Earth.

I worked with Dawn only a few years. She was always dressed so cute, she always had a smile on her face, and you could tell she loved doing what she did.Everytime during lunch hour, she’d ask about my family and kids, then share about hers. She truly loved her family and you could tell in the smile she shared when discussing. She was a positive face at SJS and I’m very grateful that she brought a piece of comfort and home to that building. It’s completely a shock to hear of this, but it’s known that she was lead by angels into the greatest land of all.

This is heartbreaking to hear and hard to believe. I have known Dawn since I was a kid. She later became my hair stylist and was my last since she did not have the cure for baldness. I remember my first appointment back after she returned from maternity leave. I was on my way and passed a police officer. It turns out my license tags had expired and so I got pulled over in the Tangles parking lot. Once I finally got to the salon, I did not have to give her a reason for my lateness, since she saw everything. We both laughed about it then it was business as usual. It was always fun catching up with her. I will miss her dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Thanks for everything Dawn. God bless you.

Dawn was our hair stylist for 35 years…she was more than a stylist, always considered a friend. She did life with us through having our children, watching those children get married, and always asking about our grandchildren. Although we dont actually know Shannon, Ryley, and Nolan, Mike and I feel like we do, in all our hours talking with her over the years. She was a loving soul who we will cherish having known. We are so sorry for your loss…She was a gem. ❤️✝️❤️
