Doyle E. Oden

Doyle Edward Oden, 80, of Carlisle, Iowa passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, January 8, 2024. Doyle was born in Centerville, Iowa to Robert and Mildred (McClaskey) Oden. He married Barbara (Blair) Oden of Des Moines, Iowa in 1964 and moved to Des Moines, IA. Together they have three daughters, Cindy (Mike) Runyan, Chris Oden, and Shelley (Jerry) Denning. Doyle worked for Caterpillar for 50 plus years and retired from Ziegler. He enjoyed camping, skiing, woodworking, and traveling with his family. He was dedicated for many years to the North Des Moines Softball League coaching many teams, including many teams of which his daughters played on. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, his 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Malcomb (Suzie) Oden, Judy (Stanley) Posovich, and Kenny (Melody) Hunt. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred (McClaskey) Oden, and his in-laws, Merle and Bernice (Henderson) Blair. According to Doyle’s wishes, cremation will occur and there will be no formal services held at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
