Don Miller

On Monday, October 23, 2023, Donald Dever Miller, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Don was born June 27, 1929, in Albion, Iowa to Carl and Evelyn Miller. In 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve, and raised four children - Julie, Randall, Debbie, and Kristi. They loved camping and spent many vacations in Branson mingling with all the country music stars. Don loved music and loved playing his guitars. He formed his first band, Hawkeye Music Jubilee, and they played all over Iowa including 25 years at the Iowa State Fair. Later he changed his music to gospel and renamed the band Good Tyme Gospel Jubilee. Don belonged to the Professional Musician and Entertainers Club of Iowa and won many awards. He loved the Lord and loved going to church every Sunday and playing his guitar. Don volunteered yearly with Camp Sunnyside charity at annual fundraising events.
He is survived by his children, Julie Geppert, Randall Miller, and Kristi (Guy) Matteson; grandchildren, Craig (Kristin) Geppert, Sandi (Jimmy) Carpenter, Shelley (Jeff) Pinegar, Kory (Jon) Merryfield, and Nikki (Ammar) Raza; 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Genevieve “Jenny”; his daughter, Debbie Miller; his mother, Evelyn Miller; father, Carl Miller; stepmother, Judy Miller; and son-in-law, Craig Geppert.
Funeral service will be held at Faith Independent Assembly of God Church, 6001 SW 14th Street, Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will be at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Don for a future designation.

I played fiddle with Don in the late 70s and early 80s. Sincere condolences. My father's funeral is the same day, otherwise I would be there to pay respects. David Bellegante
