Dorothy Louise (Doolittle) Holmes

Dorothy Louise (Doolittle) Holmes, age 87, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023.

Dorothy was born April 6, 1936, in Indianola, Iowa. She worked for the State of Iowa in the Department of Revenue and Finance, retiring after 30 years. She enjoyed working in her yard, puzzles, word searches, taking care of her family horses, and visiting with patrons at Kids Fest.

She is survived by her sister Beverly Kauzlarich of Indianola, daughters Donna Davis (Mike) of Des Moines and Carol Renda (Thomas) of Altoona, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and her pet dog Acorn.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Earl Holmes, two sisters, and five brothers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
