Cooper J. Driscoll
March 09, 2012 — September 13, 2023
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Cooper. Cooper John Craig Driscoll, 11, passed away on September 13, 2023, after over an 8 -year battle with pediatric cancer. Cooper was born on March 9, 2012 to Mike and Kristi Driscoll in Des Moines, Iowa.
Cooper was such a joyful child and lit up every room he entered. He enjoyed school and graduated from Beaver Creek Elementary in June 2023. He excelled at math, and playing soccer at recess with his friends made him so happy. Cooper was devoted to his brothers and loved playing all types of games and going on adventures with them. He was active in Cub Scouts, winning the Pinewood Derby two years running.
Cooper faced pediatric cancer with a resilience and fortitude that inspired all who knew of his story. Though he faced a myriad of challenges that set him apart from his peers in many ways, Cooper made friends everywhere he went. He was honest and not afraid to keep all the doctors and nurses on their toes with his humor and sharp wit. Through all his challenges he was a loving boy that told his family he loved them every day.
Cooper is survived by his parents, Mike and Kristi; brothers, Mitch and Logan; grandparents, Mike and Barb Driscoll and John and Becky Holmes; his beloved dog, Mac; as well as a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Craig Kischer and uncle, Sean Kelly.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, September 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale, IA, with a private burial following services.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated to a foundation that will be created in Cooper’s name.

Sending strength and love to Mike, Kristi, Mitch, Logan, and family. I followed parts of Cooper's story through his Aunt Jen and am heartbroken to hear of his passing. Cooper was filled with thoughtfulness, gratitude, kindness, joy, and had a positive influence on so many people. He reminds us to be grateful for the days were given. Cooper, you will be greatly missed and your legacy will continue through those who knew you and share your story.
