In Loving Memory of Cynthia Anne Dick (Hoffman)
09/28/1952 - 08/23/2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and friend, Cynthia Anne, who peacefully left this world at the age of 70. Surrounded by love and in the presence of her family, she embarked on her final journey on August 23, 2023.

Born on September 28th, 1952, to Milton and Marion Pauline Hoffman in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Cindy graduated from Lincoln East High School, Lincoln, NE in 1970 before attending the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She graduated with her bachelor's degree of education in 1974.

Cindy was united in marriage to Walter Thomas Dick on October 1st, 1988, in Lincoln, NE.

Cindy lived a life filled with love, compassion, and grace. She was a shining example of kindness, and her spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy is one of unwavering love and the countless lives she profoundly influenced.

A devoted mother, she poured her heart and soul into her role. Her love was boundless, and her son was the center of her world. She instilled in him values of compassion, integrity, and resilience, guiding him with her wisdom and unhesitating support. Her legacy lives on through him, a testament to her exceptional motherhood.

Cindy’s warmth extended far beyond her immediate family. She was a friend to many, a confidante, a friendly and welcoming hello, and a source of comfort in times of need. Her open heart and attentive ear made her a cherished friend, and her impact on the lives she touched was immeasurable.

Throughout her life, she found joy in life's simplest pleasures. From tending to her garden, watching a Huskers football game, or enjoying a good book, she reminded us all to find beauty in the everyday. Her appreciation for life's small moments was infectious, and her positivity lit up every room she entered.

Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind: her husband Tom Dick, her little monster Zero (dog), her son and daughter-in-law Joshua and Sarah Hoffman, her sisters (Michelle, Julie, and Melanie) along with their spouses, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

As we mourn Cynthia’s physical absence, let us celebrate the life that she lived, the beautiful memories we have, and the love she shared. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, her cooking, her gentle spirit, and her ability to make every person she encountered feel valued.

Cindy was preceded in death by her son Michael, mother Pauline, father Milton, and grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at The Gathering Place in Monroe. The family kindly requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause that was close to her heart, or flowers can be sent directly to her son at 3172 SW Arlan Lane, Ankeny, IA 50023. A private ceremony with immediate family will be held in Nebraska.

Cindy may have left this world, but her love and spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing that she made a profound impact on all of us and that her memory will forever live on.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear."

Rest in peace, Mom. You will be deeply missed and forever loved. I love you more.
