Christina (D’Ostilio) Smith

Christina (D’Ostilio) Smith, 87, passed away on February 18, 2024, at Trinity Center at Luther Park.

Christina was born November 1, 1936, in Auburn, New York to Patrick and Ruth D’Ostilio. She retired from Norwest Bank. After retirement, she worked for the Des Moines Public Schools in Metro Care.

She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Cubs fan.

Christina is survived by her husband of 68 years, Maurice Smith; children, Wade (Julie) Smith, JR Smith, Christie (Scott) McConathy, and Margaret (Charles) McKinney; grandchildren, Mike Norris, Ben Norris, Chad Norris, Tracy (Brett) Levang, Todd Smith, Aaron Smith, Patrick Smith, Danielle McKinney, and Nicole Garduno; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Patrick D’Ostilio.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024.
