Charles "Chuck" Russo Sr

Charles “Chuck” Russo, 89, passed away November 12, 2023 at Trinity Center.

Chuck was born April 8, 1934 in Des Moines to Louis and Catherine (Jacquinta) Russo. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952, where he excelled in track and basketball. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Carol Stewart. They were blessed with two children, Chuck Jr and Cheryl. He was the insurance manager for Iowa Realty for many years and later retired from C Mac Chambers Insurance. Chuck coached South Des Moines Little League and served on the board of the Little League Association. He enjoyed playing tennis, golfing and gardening. Chuck was an avid Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees fan. He was a devoted member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Chuck is survived by his children, Chuck (Sheryl) Russo, Jr. and Cheryl Allen; grandson, Kevin Russo; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Russo; parents, Louis and Catherine Russo; sisters, Mary Madeline and Mary Russo; son-in-law, Larry Allen and granddaughter, Annie Marchesano.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with a time of fellowship to follow the service. Chuck will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter or the Colon Cancer Coalition in loving memory of Chuck.
