Charles "Chuck" Campbell

Charles “Chuck” Campbell, 79, passed away April 8, 2025 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in West Des Moines.

Chuck was born April 26, 1945 in Des Moines to Orville and Eleanor Campbell. He grew up on the southside of Des Moines and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1965. In 1966, Chuck was inducted into the Army at Fort Des Moines in Des Moines, Iowa. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sargent on September of 1974 after serving in the Vietnam War. Chuck received the Bronze Star along with several other medals of recognition during his military service. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #738 in Des Moines.

Chuck was the owner of Greater Des Moines Snow Maintenance for 34 years and co-owner of Greater Des Moines Maintenance Company for 6 years.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Christie Campbell; sons, Charlie (Tracy) Campbell, Ryan (Brandy) Campbell and Steve (Denise) Vasey; daughter, Sheila O’Donnell; grandchildren, Michael (Jo) Campbell, Kaela (Mylon) Dice, Stephanie (Nathan) O’Donnell-Habben, Heather (Josh) Evans, Hannah Vasey, Jacob Vasey, Zachary Vasey, Nate (Kaylee) Vasey and Alexander Campbell; great-grandchildren, Connor, Carter, Haley, Silas, Mila, Roman, Colt, Lyla, Shant and baby-to-be, Ezra; brothers, Marvin Campbell and Orville “J.R.” (Lana) Campbell; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; infant sister; son, Tommy Campbell; and his son-in-law, Gary O’Donnell.

The family will greet friends Friday, April 11, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Chuck will be laid to rest with military honors at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
