Cathy Allison, age 63, left us suddenly Saturday, December 23, 2023, at her home in Des Moines. Cathy was born March 5, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa to Eugene and Helen Allison.

Cathy Allison grew up in Des Moines Iowa, graduated from North High in 1978 where she enjoyed and participated in many activities including the majorettes, student council, president of the deca chapter 2, and was a manger of the football team. She raised two children while earning her Bachelor’s degree at Upper Iowa University. She spent the majority of her career working at Methodist Hospital, United Truck and Body, and Hawkeye Claims. Cathy devoted her earlier life to her children, spending countless hours on the ball fields, singing performances, dance recitals, and modeling adventures. In her spare time she loved to quilt, sew, garden, spend time with friends, love on her fur babies, and bask in the sun. She held a special place in her heart for each and every one of her grandchildren. What Cathy loved the most was the human connections she built with everyone she came in contact with. She knew no stranger.

Those left to mourn her passing are her son Joseph (Samita) Kaufmann, her daughter Shelby (Anthony) Cross, her six grandchildren Nia, Seth, Kale, Sabryn, Savannah and Kaiser, her siblings Larry (Karen) Smith, David Allison, and Linda (Gary) Sampson. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Forever In Your Heart
Feel no guilt in laughter
She knows how much you care
Feel no sorrow in a smile
That she’s not here to share
You cannot grieve forever
She would not want you to
She’d hope that you would carry on
The way you always do
So talk about the good times
And the ways you showed you cared
The days you spent together
All the happiness you’ve shared
Let memories surround you
A word someone might say
Will suddenly recapture
A time, an hour, a day
That brings her back as clearly
As though she was still here
And fills you with the feelings
That say she’s always near
For if you keep those moments
You will never be apart
And they will live forever
Safely locked within your heart
