Carol Lang, 87, passed away February 26, 2024 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center.
Carol was born November 17, 1936 to Ralph and Madelyn (Gillespie) Loomis. A lifelong resident of Des Moines, she graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. Carol worked at Metropolitan Life for many years, and retired as a secretary from Des Moines Public Schools. In 1996, Dale and Carol became snow birds and had a home in Mesa, Arizona. They enjoyed camping, boating, skiing and many motorcycle trips across the country. The couple made many lifelong friends throughout their travels
Carol is survived by her children, Terri (Brent) Gibbons, Rick (Teresa) Lang and Dan (Jennifer) Lang; grandchildren, Amanda (Austin), Emily (Jake), Colton, Riley (Tanner), Nick, Sam, Evan and Jack; great-grandchildren, Letti, Bailey, Jackson and Wyatt; sister-in-law, Janet Loomis; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Dale; brother, Jim: and infant brother, Thomas.
The family will greet friends Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 4th at 11 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Autism Society of Iowa or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Carol.
