Carole was born on September 4th, 1934 to Hubert & Ruthie Stevenson. She attended and graduated from Des Moines East High School.
She married Bill Wright at the young age of 17 and had three beautiful children - Steve, Scott, and Teri. They enjoyed boating as a family at Gray’s Lake with the Des Moines Ski Hawks, camping, and a multitude of sports. They were married for 18 years. Carole then married Tom Hoffman in 1970-1980 and together they continued to enjoy similar hobbies and spent a lot of their time at Lake Okoboji. Carole was a very versatile person and she worked many various administrative jobs throughout her life. Later in life Carole met and married, John Waters. She gained two wonderful stepchildren - Cindy and John. They enjoyed going to ISU football games, chili cook-offs, and later spent lots of time with their grandchildren. After retiring they moved to Cape Coral, Florida where Carole lived until June of 2020. She enjoyed the warm weather and sitting on her lanai. You could always find her chatting on the phone with friends and family watching the boats go by.

She loved to shop for clothes, jewelry, dolls, bears, and other collectibles. Carole shared these hobbies with a few close friends that she would attend many doll shows with. She was a very loving person and could make friends wherever she went!

Caroles’ most cherished part of her life was her six grandchildren - Tyler, Thomas, Brandon, Kaylee, Holly, and Kiersten. She was a very involved grandmother always there to part-take in many activities such as going on walks, bike rides, crafting, and teaching the grandchildren how to play games. She was thrilled to learn of her first great grandchild and has since gained 9 more with an additional 10th on the way. She spent the last few years giggling and playing with her great grandchildren in Des Moines, Iowa.

Carole is survived by her sister, Reggie Agee, of Des Moines. IA. Her children, Steve (Vicky) of Clearwater, FL, Scott (Theresa) of Excelsior, MN, and Teri (Mark) of Urbandale, IA, Cindy of Urbandale, IA, John of West Des Moines, IA. Her grandchildren, Tyler (Laura) of Anchorage, AK, Thomas (Kate) of Watertown, MN, Brandon (Coley) of Edina, MN, Kaylee (Tony) of Chaska, MN, Holly (Jay) of Urbandale, IA, and Kiersten (Chris) of Urbandale, IA. Her great grandchildren, Madeleine and Westley (Tyler). Meredith (Thomas). Bates, Willis, and Mick (Brandon). Sofia (Kaylee). Ryla, Aven, and a third great grandchild due in April of 2025 (Holly).

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A private family burial for Carole was held at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
