Carey Jean Hinman, age 69 of West Des Moines, Iowa died on August 25, 2023, after a short illness.
Carey was born on August 24, 1954, in Postville, Iowa to Warren and Donnafred Hinman. After Carey graduated from Des Moines Hoover High School she went on to study and graduate from Des Moines Area Community College. From there, she held several jobs: her most favorite being in childcare.
She is survived by her sister Carla Miles, her nephew Steven Miles (Jennifer DeCilles) and many extended family members and friends. Predeeding her in death were her father Warren, her mother Donnafred and her brothers Bradley and Clark.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony at a future date. Memorial donations can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation in your area.

Carey was a very good friend to us. We loved spending time with her visiting and sharing meals. We will truly miss her. Our deepest sympathy to Carla and to Stephen. Carey was a shining light and a true inspiration to all of us who were blessed to call her our friend.
