Cindy S. Ford

Cindy Sue Ford, 54, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023.

Cindy was born February 24, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa to Kenneth and Beverly (Shutt) Howe.

She was the matriarch of her family as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Cindy made sure everyone in the family felt loved and cared for and this extended to her sisters, nieces, and nephews as well. Her home always had an open door, was a safe haven, and was filled with unconditional love. She was outspoken and a pistol! She was kind-hearted, reliable, and easy to talk to. She loved fearlessly.

Cindy loved to vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama and Panama City Beach, Florida. She had a good ear for music and enjoyed going to concerts. Cindy liked fishing and always caught the first fish. She liked going to garage sales and bargain shopping. Some of her special interests included playing Roulette and watching UFC fighting.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Mark Ford; children Mark Ford II and Kayla Ford; grandson, Calvin Ford-Gogerty; sisters, Barb Gruver, Sherri Ratcliffe, Karla Jones, and Gale Howe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Beverly Howe; and her sisters, Terri Ratcliffe and Lori Howe.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines. There will be a potluck reception at Maingate Bar & Grill after the burial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Cindy. Cards may be brought to Hamilton’s or Maingate.
