Bud Abia Denning, 70, passed away on March 2, 2024.

He was born September 26, 1953 in Des Moines Iowa to his parents Wilford and Evelyn Denning. Bud graduated from Saydel Highschool in 1972 and was drafted to serve in the United States Army. He served from 1972-1978 in artillery, nuclear weapons, and the top-secret courier service. Bud then worked for Firestone and Barrett Plating before the family moved to Willowbrook Bible Camp. The family managed the camp for 6 years and then Bud worked for US Postal Bulk Mail Center and retired after 31 years.

Bud was a member of New Testament Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher for many years. He enjoyed sharing the Gospel and his faith. Bud also enjoyed the Iowa State Fair, reading, and music. He was very social and never met a stranger. Bud was his family’s historian and had the best memory. Most of all, Bud loved being a husband, father, grandpa and loved all of his family and friends very much.

Bud is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy Denning; daughter, Amanda (Josh) Mrzena; son, Jesse Denning; granddaughter, Elsie; sisters, Rose Seeley and Sandy (Mike) Johnson; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Butch Allie.

Family will greet friends from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at First Baptist Church, 3020 E 38th Street in Des Moines with memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will occur with Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive in Adel.
