Bob Ragan
August 24, 1937 — December 05, 2023
Bobbie Joe Ragan, age 86, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at his home in Des Moines.
Bob was born August 24, 1937, in Mercer, Missouri to Charlie and Elma (Osborn) Ragan. He worked as a furniture refinisher during his working years. He began his career with Younkers and was a faithful employee for 39 years. He was valued for his people skills, his dedication, and his perfectionist nature. Bob was personable and never knew a stranger. After his time at Younkers, he was a private contractor for Lint Van Lines as a furniture repairman.
Bob loved woodworking and was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, and any activity that allowed him to be outdoors. When his health became a challenge, he drew great comfort from sitting on his patio appreciating the nature on his acreage. He and his wife, Deb made many great memories on their annual trips to Colorado for thirty years in a row. Bob also had a passion for antiques and was a collector.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Deb Ragan; children, Bill (Sheri) Ragan, Kim Hart, and Todd (Sarah) Karpinski; grandchildren, Lyn Ragan, Carrie (Alex) Ragan, Ami (Tim) Hart, Bobbi Ragan, Luke Karpinski, and Eli Karpinski; great-grandchildren, Summer and Gus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, and many extended family members.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
