Beverly "Bev" Kaili
July 02, 1938 — December 10, 2024
Beverly “Bev” Kaili 86 of Des Moines got to go back home on Tuesday December 10, 2024. She was born on July 2, 1938 to Warren and Hazel (Willson) Bird. She attended Park Avenue Elementary and Lincoln High School, which is where she met her future husband, Dave Kaili. They were married for 63 years before he passed in 2017. Bev and Dave resided in the same house on the southside of Des Moines for over 60 years where they raised their four children.
Bev dedicated her life to taking care of her family. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing cook. You could always find her in the kitchen making one of the many dishes she was known for or baking a sweet treat. Bev loved and prioritized her role of being a mother. She made sure her kids were grown before she went to work at Midwest Surgical Supply and then later at Archer TV on the Southside. Even then it was within walking distance so she could be home to have a hot meal on the table for her husband and children. When Bev wasn’t taking care of her family or working you could find her at various social gatherings, sporting events for her kids and grandkids, the Iowa State Fair, and various festivals/parades. She also enjoyed going to garage sales with her husband.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons; Dave (Linda) Kaili, Rick (Nancy) Kaili, Kevin (Robin) Kaili, a daughter; Karen Kaili (Scott Curtis), grandchildren; David K. Kaili, J Edmond, Jen Porter Ross (Kevin), Doug Goodwin (Mark Cowell), Nicole Kaili (Frank Roth), Kristopher Kaili (Nicole Thomson), Jennifer Kaili, Dallas Downey, great grandchildren Joseph and Sydni Stovall, Natalie and Nicholas Durbala, Korri and Marli Kaili, Jesse Kaili-Ferris, sister; Patricia Sirfus, sisters in law; Shirley Bird and Lauana Sturgeon, beloved family in heart; Dwayne Downey, Doug and Cole Summy, Kayt Hulett, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends of family members that fondly referred to as Grandma.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Warren and Hazel (Willson) Bird, loving husband; Dave Kaili, brothers; Jim Bird, Bill Bird, sister; Shirley Mason, sister in law; Helen Bird, daughter in law; Sue Kaili, and granddaughter; Kelli Ann Edmond.
The family would like to express their appreciation to staff at Addington Place and St. Croix Hospice Care for the wonderful care they provided for Bev.
Memorial contributions can be made to Addington Place and St. Croix Hospice Care.

What a fun couple. Great company, loved to visit over cocktails, enjoyed an occasional game of golf, and best of all, talk about her family. I considered she and Dave my friends and will cherish those times together. She will be deeply missed by so many.
