Barbara Jeanette Gilbert, 88, passed away February 13, 2026, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa.

Barb was born August 19, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Gilberta (Rankin) Gant. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. Throughout Barb’s life she worked for many different insurance companies in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa. She was currently attending Grace Church.

She enjoyed doing crafts, bowling, golfing, and fishing. Most of all Barb enjoyed spending time with her family and her #1 granddaughter, Emily.

Barb is survived by her daughter, Cyndi (Tim) Cook; granddaughter, Emily Cook; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Hilding; parents, William and Gilberta Gant; sister, Edith McLane; and brother, Kenneth Gant.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Barb will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
