Barbara Lee Scavo, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Urbandale Health Care Center.

Barbara was born July 4, 1938, in Minburn, Iowa to Ralph and Mabel (Kimrey) Waters. She has been a resident of the Des Moines area for most of her life.

She worked in the Des Moines Public School System and for Mercy Hospital in the food service industry.

She loved her family and caring for her home. Barbara enjoyed people watching, caring for others, feeding people, and reading, especially her Bible.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Scavo, two granddaughters, Kellie (Bobby) Mckinney and Christie Marshall (Trenton Poore), and six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Silvia, Marshall, Zoey, Ava, and Sam.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Danny Scavo, Sr., son, Danny Scavo, Jr., and eight siblings.

There will be a graveside service at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Barbara.
