Barbara Jeanne (Donahue) Luke

Barbara Jeanne (Donahue) Luke went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was 86.
Barbara was born in Des Moines and spent the majority of her life here. She graduated from Des Moines Technical High School and briefly attended Midwest Bible College in St. Louis, MO. She married Colin G. Luke on July 1, 1966, and they spent 52 years together before his death. She held a variety of small jobs while balancing being a Homemaker, Wife and Mother to her two sons. Barbara was an active member of Aurora Ave. Bible Church in Des Moines, where they spent many years serving the Lord and giving back to the community. Barbara thoroughly enjoyed her time in the church kitchen and playing the piano on Sundays.
She leaves behind two sons - David (Amy) Luke of Urbandale and John (Rob) Rouze-Luke of Johnston; two sisters, Connie (Larry) Cameron and Kathy Aldred; four grandchildren - Robert, Elizabeth, Alisha and Benjamin Luke; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Colin, her brother Thomas (Sonny) Donahue, her parents Thomas and Marion (Rugg) Donahue, and her brother in law Bill Aldred.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, also at the funeral home, and will be followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss. Barb was such a nice lady. So sorry for not being able to attend her service. I have had a cold. I am praying for you all, I too lost my mother January of 2022. She passed in her sleepat 81 years old.♥

David & John my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mom was always a sweet dear friend. Sorry I cant make it to the service but know Im their in spirit. Remember all the good times and that Barb is pain free and with your dad and the master she served faithfully.
