Service Details

April Woodard unexpectedly passed away in her home on November 29, 2024.

April was born and raised in Des Moines, IA and attended Lincoln High School. Upon graduation, she married Steve Lose, and welcomed her first son, Nicholas. Several years later, April married Tom Woodard, and welcomed her second son, Austin Woodard. Being a mom was April’s favorite role, and she loved raising her boys and watching them grow up. Her second favorite role was becoming a grandma to her granddaughter, Mia. In addition to her human children, April loved furry children, specifically, Pomeranians, and had several over the years that she loved dearly.

April had the opportunity to spend the first four years every day with her granddaughter due to her business as an in-home daycare provider. April cherished every day she spent with Mia, and being there to witness her first steps. April was always so great with the kids, and loved teaching them new songs and sign language, reading them books, and running around with them. They loved her so much, and never witnessed so many kids that wanted to stay as long as possible and cried when their parents came to pick them up.

April had an infectious laugh that could be recognized from a mile away. April loved cranking up the music and dancing along to Carrie Underwood, Elton John, Elvis and White Snake while shooting a game of pool or playing darts. She was always up for a good time, as long as she was with family and friends. Her love for friends and family will always be remembered.

She survived by her two sons Nicholas Lose (Elizabeth Snyder) and Austin Woodard; granddaughter, Mia Lose; mother, Cynthia Usher; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and April Usher; niece, Hailey Usher; nephew, Zach Usher; and great-nieces, Mabel and Dorothy. April was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Usher.

A Celebration of Life Visitation in April's honor will be held from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Fox Creek Shelter, 522 NE Westgate Drive in Waukee, Iowa.
