Service Details

Ann C. Aiello, 91, passed away on January 24, 2024, at Scottish Rite Park.

Ann was born October 18, 1932 in Oelwein, Iowa to Antonio Aiello and Margherita (Scalise) Aiello.
She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1951.
Ann retired from Norwest Bank after decades of working in the financial industry.
She was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she volunteered for many years.

Ann enjoyed people! She was an aunt/mom/caregiver to all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as a trusted friend to many. She was the definition of selfless. Any time you went over to her house to visit, you never left empty; your soul, your spirit, nor your stomach. Most times you left with more of all three than when you arrived. That was our Zizi Annie.

Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Aiello; nieces and nephews, Debbie Alfano, Lisa (Sean) McCormick, Gena Aiello (John Swenson), Joni (Brian) Corbett, Teresa (Tom) Skepetaris, Anne Marie (Matt) Chase, Rock (Ann) Pigneri, Anthony (Mary Beth) Pigneri, Tom Pigneri, Margaret (Tim) Carson, Steve (Molly) Pigneri, and Frank Pigneri; 9 great-nieces, 17 great-nephews, 11 great-grandnieces and 6 great-grandnephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Mary Aiello, Sam Aiello, and Rose (Aiello) Pigneri.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 1, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road, Des Moines, Iowa followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary prayed 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa, 50315. If guests are not able to attend the Mass in person, the family invites everyone to join them virtually by clicking the live stream link at the end of the obituary below, accessible on the day of the service.
