Service Details

Adriana Francisca Alonso-Shelton was a bright & unique soul. She had a zest for life, despite her ongoing heart issues, she faced every one of them head on, with courage and strength. Adriana went to be with the Lord on January 7th, 2025, in a peaceful sleep in her own bed and the young age of 17.

Adriana was born on June 24th, 2007, to Cairn Alonso-Shelton & Gabriel Alonso-Servin Sr. Growing up, she was an adventurous and gentle little girl. Adriana was a loving child and even when she was angry or sad, it would never last long. Adriana always looked on the bright side of things and the impression she left on our hearts will last forever.

Adriana always surrounded herself with those that made her smile. That was evident in her love for hanging out with friends, spending time at the mall, and just having a good time. She had a way of making people laugh, whether it was at her or with her, she did not care. She also loved to get lost in a good book. She enjoyed doing her fingernails and makeup, always adding a touch of color and creativity to her days. Her favorite colors were purple and blue. One of her greatest joys was joking around and hanging out with her baby brother, Angel, who she considered her best friend. Adriana looked forward to graduation in May after countless hours of hard work to catch up from missing school due to her hospitalizations. She was extremely proud of herself as were we all. Adriana participated in a variety of groups for teen girls in the Des Moines area where she spent a lot of her free time connecting and helping others with mental illness. Adriana truly had a compassionate heart and soul.

Adriana was just one of a handful that kept her mom busy. She is survived by her awesome but sometimes irritatingly funny siblings Alysha, Jorge, Gabino, Carlos, Angel, Jasmine, Jay, Maleigha & Maddie. She loved each one of them with her entire body and soul.

Adriana absolutely loved to be an Auntie to Jaelynn & Treasure. There was never a day that they did not exchange Snaps, Texts or Facetime calls. Though they were thousands of miles apart, they were connected deeply in the heart.

Those left to remember all imprints Adriana left on their hearts are her mom, dad, siblings, nieces, dozens of cousins, Grandma Ginny, Aunts Jenny, Michelle, Cassandra & Becky, Uncle Juan along with her dads 16 siblings and extended families.

Those that greeted Adriana at the gates of Heaven with open arms were her Grandma Trudy, Grandpa Jerry, Grandma Francisca, Grandpa Jesus, Uncle Joey & Uncle Jarred.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home located at 605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309, day and time currently pending. Please check back.

While Adriana’s time with us was far too short, her impact on our lives was profound. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and the love she shared with her family and friends will remain in our hearts forever. Adriana's bright spirit and joyful presence will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
