Anthony Thede

Anthony Thede, age 43, passed away peacefully at Taylor House Hospice with his family and friends by his side on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Anthony was born September 4, 1981, Creston, Iowa to Tony and Patty (Neese) Thede. As a younger person, he had a love of baseball, which continued into his adulthood in the form of collecting baseball cards. He enjoyed playing pool and took part in many pool leagues. He was a devoted husband and father, and loved fishing and camping trips with his wife, Shannon and their son, Mason.
Anthony was an influential member of the Des Moines music scene, playing bass for many local bands. He got his start in SL8, and was more prominently known as a member of The Cassandra Disease. Anthony was a Cyclones fan and loved going to games with his dad, uncle, Tom, and nephew, Cameron. Above all, family and friends were most important to Anthony.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Thede; son, Mason Thede; mother, Patty Thede; siblings, Mical Thede, Crystal (James) Jensen, Chad (Christy) Thede, and Jeff (Amy) Thede; nephew, Cameron Thede; nieces, Emily and Erin Heckman; mother-in-law, Gerri Mason; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Tony Thede; father-in-law, Tod Mason; and brother-in-law, T.J. Mason.
Services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Thede - what do I say to someone who never had anything bad to say about anyone ever? You were an inspiration to so many, and you are so loved by everyone who ever met you. I'm proud to have been your friend - Shannon and Mason, there's a huge crew that has your backs forever and always. Love you.
