Lucille Ahrens

Lucille Ahrens, 89, passed away June 29, 2011, at Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Lucille was born July 25, 1921, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Henry and Louise Janss. She was a beautician and owned “Modernistic” Beauty Salon in Grinnell, the largest beauty shop in town, and she was very proud of it. She received many awards for her business and was involved in Grinnell Community Theater, doing makeup and hair. Lucille enjoyed playing the piano and dancing and she loved ice cream. Family was very important to her, she always looked forward to seeing her grandson and great-grandchildren and all her friends and family from Grinnell.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Cindy Patterson; son, Jim Ahrens; grandson, Greg (Stephanie) Patterson; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Caitlynn and Brandon.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
