Dennis Elder

Dennis Elder, 66, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from Lewy Body Dementia. The funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines with burial following at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the funeral.

Denny was born March 15, 1945 in Des Moines to Helen and Richard Elder. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sally; his children: Joel and Shelby; his grandchildren: Kayla, Kortney, Josh, Andrew, Jacey, Casey, Austin, Madison, and Eliana; his brothers: Jared, Harry, Timothy, Kevin, and Steve; and his sisters: Yvonne, Barbara, Cindy, and Mary Lou. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa. The family requests casual attire worn to the funeral in loving memory of Denny.
