Eugene Thornburg

Eugene A. Thornburg, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the age of 73, after losing the battle to cancer. Funeral services will be 10AM Monday, April 16th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Avon Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Gene was born in Winterset, IA February 18, 1934. He was married to Carol for 40 plus years. Gene was an accomplished salesman for most of his career. After retirement, he found great joy in working part-time as a driver for Majestic Limousine. He was an avid golfer and had a green thumb when it came to gardening. He was a member of the Ft. Des Moines Chapter of the Oddfellows Organization.
Gene is survived by his children Kristen (Lyle) Danielson of Des Moines and Robert Thornburg of Chicago and his sister, Shirley Jenkins of Des Moines.
