Jerry L. Bentley, Sr.

Jerry Leroy Bentley, Sr. was born February 5, 1947 and died June 27, 2011.

Jerry was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was honored to be a U.S. Marine and to have served his country in the Vietnam War.

Jerry is survived by his sisters, Kathy Smith and Shirley Bentley; loved ones, Linda Bentley, Tereasa Stevenson and Patricia Morris; children, Jerry L. Bentley, Jr., Dianna Grube, Brian Welzten and Tabatha Bentley; step-son, Robbie Robinson; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Bentley and sister, Sharon Snyder.

Jerry will be missed by all who knew him. He will be vividly remembered for singing old country songs, joking around and never turning his back on anyone in need. He was willing to befriend anyone willing to give the same to him in return. Jerry loved animals and spoiled the ones he could.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, with a funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
