Service Details

Pamela “Pam” Ostrem, 56, went home to be with her Lord and Savior June 27, 2011.

Pam was born September 9, 1954 in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School and worked as an advisor with Iowa Workforce for the past 26 years. Pam was very artistic and enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking and card making. She loved flowers and had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Her yard was full of flowers and when she ran out of space in her gardens, she planted more in flower pots and planters. Pam loved going to garage sales with her mother and daughter, watching scary movies and celebrating Halloween. She collected lambs and chickens and filled her home with her many “collectible treasures” but her greatest treasures in life were her three grandchildren. Pam attended Grace Church.

Those left to cherish her memory and all the joy and laughter she brought to their lives are her daughter, Heidi (Kirk) Moss; mother, Norma Slaughter; companion, John Latshaw; step-siblings, Diane Floden, Deb Melichar, Denise Jons, Ron Slaughter and Gary Slaughter; and her beloved grandchildren, Baelei, Marissa and Kaide Moss. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Hunt and step-father, Charles Slaughter.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Iowa.
