Dale Bower

Dale Bower passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Valley View Village, just one month and two days shy of his 100th birthday.

All services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. There will be a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m., on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 27. Dale will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Dale was born July 25, 1911, in Bayard, Iowa, to Nellie (Thompson) and George Bower. He worked as a truck driver his entire career for Des Moines Transportation (United Buckingham). Dale enjoyed farming and bee keeping, and was a member of Highland Park Christian Church, the Auburn Masonic Lodge, and the Teamsters Union.

Dale is survived by his children, Beverly (Walt) Erickson and Don (Linda) Bower; twelve grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel; second wife, Icyle; step-son, Richard “Dick” Marshall; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and siblings, Merle, Atha, Wayne, George Jr., and Josephine.
