Evan Nichols

Evan Nichols, 70, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 22, 2011.

Evan was born March 5, 1941, in Peru, Iowa, to Harris and Eva Nichols. On June 1, 1962, he married Sally Fisher. Evan was the Fire Chief for the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scout Master. Evan loved to dance, watch Western movies, as well as vacationing, spending time with family, and camping.

Evan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally; children, Lisa (Bill) Schebler, Penny (Bill) Wells, Vicky Kephart, Richard (Renee) Nichols, Patrick Nichols, and Justin Nichols; sister, Darla (Donavon Harrison) Jenkes; six grandchildren, Jessica, Nick, Onna-Lynn, Tom, Jarod and Jake; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Robert Tripp; and brothers-in-law, Larry Tripp and Richard Jenkes.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Fire Department in loving memory of Evan.
