Service Details

Lee M. Plew, 89, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Simpson United Methodist Church with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Lee was born on February 12, 1918 in Lucas, IA, the son of William and Blanche Plew. During WWII, Lee served in Europe with the 14th Armored Division. On November 30, 1946, he married Verona Stephenson. Lee was a Mason and a member of the Eastern Star at Eastgate Lodge and he was also a Shriner. Lee was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church where he had served on many committees and was also a parent counselor for the youth group. He organized and managed the flea market at the State Fairgrounds for 25 years on behalf of his church. He was always ready to help whenever he was called upon. Lee worked for National Sheet Metal for 33 years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially East High and the U of I. Lee was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by his devoted wife, Verona; sons, Larry (Barb) Plew of Battleground, WA and Steve (Donna) Plew of Clive; daughter, Ellen (Rick) Rynning of Johnston; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Plew.
