Service Details
Jack D. Ballagh, age 80, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Jack has been cremated as to his wishes. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Jack was born July 5, 1930, in Prairie City, Iowa, to John and Vilda Ballagh. Jack married Mary Maxwell in 1950 and raised two children. He made a career in sales, selling steel, insurance, and real estate. Jack was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church. Jack loved to travel and collect antique toys and trains.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; son Mark (Katy) Ballagh; daughter, Jackie (Dennis) Eastridge; grandchildren, Chad (Christine) Ballagh, Nathan (Melissa) Ballagh, Chris Eastridge, Brandon Eastridge, and Amber (John) Greiner; and eight great-grandchildren who he adored.
Memorials may be directed to The Altoona Campus or Taylor House Hospice.

I was sorry to hear of the illness that would eventually take Jack, and fully realize that any extension of life can often mean only hardship.
It is best to remember his interest in others and his smile.
