Dax Kendal Bell was born November 30, 1987, in Des Moines to Vaughn and Carolyn (Carter) Bell. He passed away in a tragic accident Saturday, June 11, 2011.
He graduated from East High School in 2006. In addition to being a full-time student at ITT for computer networking, Dax worked full time on the Home Preservation Team at Wells Fargo. He was passionate about music and loved going to see live bands. Phish was one of his favorites. He was a great athlete and loved his dogs, Princess (who preceded him in death) and Schatze. Dax will be remembered as a skinny kid with a big heart whose friends gravitated to him like a magnet.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Vaughn and Carolyn Bell; sister, Cathryn (Trevor) Kelly; brother, Nick Bell; fiancé, Stephanie Brown; maternal grandmother, Rose Carter; nieces, Dulce Bell, Wynne Kelly and Zara Kelly; and nephew, Rye Kelly; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended Phamily and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Violet Bell; and maternal grandfather, Kenneth Carter.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Following the memorial service, a Celebration of Dax’s Life will be held at HyVee Hall, 2540 E. Euclid.

Amy and I are so very sorry for your loss! Words will never change or comfort you in your pain. If in the future we can spend some time together we would like this very much! We will continue to be Great friends regardless of what circumstances life throws at us.

May God give you and your family the strength to endure this tragic and senseless loss of Dax. I personally did not know Dax but knew his fathr for over 35 yrs.Knowing Vaughn, Dax had 23 fantastic years of life that is priceless.We will all be reunited someday. And I know in my heart,mind and soul all of us will eternally be together again.

Carolyn and Vaughn:
From the very second I heard this news, my heart was broken. My love for the two of you has deepened. I felt your pain down in my heart, my stomach and my bones. You were wonderful parents to Dax and he loved you deeply. You both showed so much unconditional love, not only to Dax, but to each other. As our children grow, they make some crazy mistakes, but they also make great strides in growing into adulthood, all while their parents stood by them, encouraged them, cried with them and laughed with them. You, my two beautiful friends, did just that. You have not lost your son, instead, he has moved on to sit next to Jesus and he will always be with you...in the stars, in the trees, in the wind blowing through your hair. I love you both so much, and pray that peace will soon come to you both.

I didn't know Dax or the family at all, but i want to send my deepest condolences to all who knew him; especially the family. I too have lost someone to the DSM River and know how it is to be scared and wanting to find them. I'm so sorry that you guys had to go through all this. :( Once again, my deepest condolences to you guys and I'm so very sorry for your loss :(

Dear CJ, I am so sorry for the loss of your son Dax. I remember when I worked at Eculid and we had a break together how much you talked about Dax.

I am stunned to hear of the news of Dax's death. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. I remember Dax as such a sweet boy and I especially remember how close you all were as a family. May God give you the strength to bear the grief of such a great loss. I am so sorry.

I did not personally know your son. My boys Chris and Corey hochmuth played ball with Dax growing up. My boys talk positive about your son and said that he was a very nice kid. I have been a musician all my life in Des Moines, and rarely have I ever seen a more enthusiastic Brother and Phriend of music, local and national, than Dax. He was an encouragement & a BLESSING to anyone who played music. I have spoken to he many times at shows and gigs I've played. He ALWAYS showed the love, brought a smile and danced the night away!! He made you wanna play better, and be a better musician!! In the big cosmic picture,it's not our to know why things have to happen the way they do. But our dear phriend and brother is in the Loving Hands of GOD, the creator of all things. And his spirit is free!! I celebrate his life and thank the Lord for the time HE allowed Dax to be a part of all our lives. And just think of that Heavenly Jamband that our brother's up there dancin' to!!!
