Daniel "Danny" Gibson

Daniel “Danny” Gibson, 71, passed away at his home June 10, 2011.

Danny was born October 13, 1939, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, the son of Charles and Virginia Gibson. After graduation he served in the Navy for a brief time. Following his honorable discharge he worked for John Deere, the Des Moines Police Department, Railroad Great Western and CNW RR as a special agent, self-employed, and security at Prairie Meadows.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and dancing with his wife. Above all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rose Marie; children, Colette (David) Brown, Chuck (Bonnie) Gibson, Nanette (Chuck) Cunningham; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one more on the way; sisters, Marge Goodman, Martha (Jerry) Shoff. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by sister, Mary Flanke.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with visitation two hours prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice of Johnston or toward the family for their discretion at a later date.
