Kara Haegele, 13, passed away June 8, 2011, in Des Moines. She was born January 13, 1998, to Connie Gilbert and Brent Haegele. Kara attended McCombs Middle School. She enjoyed dancing, singing, drawing, music, and loved Japanese art.
Kara is survived by her mom, Connie Gilbert; her dad, Brent Haegele; her brothers and sisters, Sarah, Bryce, Aaron, Kaitlyn, and Alysa; her grandparents, Larry and Julie Gilbert and Sandy and Robert Haegele; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Kara.

Im Kaitlin Drown, i dont know if you remember me but me and kara used to play when we were kids my mom liked to say me and kara were like sisters cause we looked soo much alike. They were great memories and i cherish them every time i think of her. im deeply sorry for your loss, Kara was a good friend to have. she will rest peacefully and will never be forgotton.

We just wanted to share a message with your family. Kara was in our gym class and we known that lots of people bullied her and those people got in trouble. And we are very sorry for your loss and i Samantha Russo known her since 6th grade and i Holly Engle was new this year and on the first day of school sat by her. And we miss her. And I Samantha Russo did not get this message and i just got it by Holly Engle and i feel really bad and just wanted to let you to know.

Mr. and Mrs. Haegele, when Kara went to St. Anthony's School, I was her first friend there, and I was very sad to see her change schools. I am so sorry and I can't even try to think how you must be feeling. She was a wonderful person and friend, and I will never forget her. I'm praying that your family will find comfort in such a difficult time. Kara is in a better place now, and I'm sure she's happy there.
