Service Details
George F. Jordan Jr., 82, of Altoona, passed away June 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
George was born March 3, 1929, in Des Moines, to Opal and George Francis Jordan, Sr. George lived in Altoona for 32 years and retired as a truck driver for Rose Way Trucking. After his retirement, he drove school bus for Ankeny Community School. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.
George is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda Jordan; children, Steve (Jana) Jordan of Ankeny, Teresa (Kevin) McAcy of Omaha, Rebecca Jordan of San Antonio, Michael (Kim) Griffin of Ankeny, and Scott (Tiffany) Griffin of Bondurant; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (Jerry) Barnes and Debbie (David) Loffredo; as well as a host of other family and beloved friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Dear Family Members,
While I did not know Mr. Jordan personally I knew some of the family members. I want to extend my condolences to the family. I pray now that he is at peace and is with our heavenly father . That he is pain free and amongst friends and family members that have already passed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and may God be with you during this difficult time.

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure
My heart aches for the grief our family is feeling at the loss of our Dad....
You don't get over it, you just get through it.
You don't get by it, because you can't get around it.
It doesn't 'get better'; it just gets different.
Grief has a new face..... everyday.
