Jerry Lee Logan

Jerry Lee Logan, 74, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Mercy Hospital. He was born November 10, 1936 to Jesse and Bernice Smith of Des Moines, Iowa.

Jerry graduated from North High School in 1954 and retired from Iowa Des Moines Supply after being a salesman for over thirty years. He also drove truck for Pepsi for several years (And everyone knows how Jerry LOVED his Pepsi and Mt. Dew).

Jerry could be counted on by every friend, family member, and stranger. If you needed something done, he would be there, although not always on time, but always there.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Logan of Des Moines; daughters, Melody (Butch) Riley of Des Moines and Penny (Ron) Newcomb of Altoona; granddaughter, Amanda (Jon) Jones of Des Moines; grandson, Nicholas (Kelsi) Newcomb of Altoona; brother, Jim (Sheila) Logan of Des Moines; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Logan; parents; Jesse and Bernice Smith; and brother, Jack Logan.

Jerry was treated with love and great care by his favorite nurses and technicians on the 8th Floor of Mercy Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
