George V. Stone

George Vaughn Stone, 83, passed away June 1, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

George was born in Texas on February 19, 1928. He moved to Iowa where he worked at Riverview Park for several years before going to work at the Steel Works.

George is survived by his wife, Louise Stone; children, Greg (Trish), Kenny (Leslie), Johnny and Bob (Shelli) Stone, Donna Hansen, Dan (Phyllis) and Rick (Linda) Smith; sister-in-law, Elaine (Jr.) Grady, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy in West Des Moines followed by burial at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League.
